Have you ever gotten distracted while hard boiling eggs, letting them boil to the point where they bang against each other, crack, and leak out egg white, making it look like egg drop soup? With Easter around the corner, you might be looking for an easy, foolproof way to hard boil eggs for your egg hunt. This method for hard “boiling” eggs in the oven results in perfect eggs every time!
Easy Hard Cooked Eggs
Water and ice
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Place as many whole eggs as you want to cook in a muffin tin.
- Bake eggs in preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove from oven and transfer to an ice bath for at least 10 minutes.
- Refrigerate, peeled or in shell, until ready to use or consume.
Regardless of whether you plan to eat the eggs after the Easter egg hunt or not, keep these food safety tips in mind.
- Refrigerate eggs promptly after dying with either a store-bought kit or homemade dyes. Hard cooked eggs can be kept in the refrigerator either peeled or within the shell for up to one week.
- If bringing cooked eggs to an Easter egg party or picnic, keep them in an insulated cooler with a freezer pack in an air-conditioned car to keep them cold and ensure they stay good.
- If packing hard cooked eggs for yourself or in your kid’s lunch box, keep them near a frozen pack or frozen juice box to keep them cold.
