Highlight Your Strongest Features

Think of your resume as a marketing tool to highlight your qualifications for the specific position you're applying for and to entice the employer to interview you. Be sure to include the accomplishments and activities you are most proud of from your professional experiences.

Cater Your Resume to the Specific Job Application

Create a new resume for each position you are applying for and demonstrate how you meet or exceed the job's requirements. List your specific dietetic and profession skills from your internship, volunteerism and previous work experience. Focus on your most desirable skills needed for the particular job you are applying to.

Make Yourself Stand Out

Identify specific projects, skills or experiences you have completed that set you apart from other applicants. Identify how your work ethic, creativity, professionalism or critical thinking was exemplified during your internship or other experiences, and how these skills will translate into your work in this new position. Avoid using resume templates; instead create a resume that looks clean, easy to read and unique.

Eliminate Old Information

Remove material from your resume that is out of date or irrelevant to the desired job position. Your resume should highlight the current criteria that make you a great candidate for the job.

Be Explanatory But Concise

Limit your resume to one or two pages. Help employers learn about you, your experience and your qualifications for the job … but do not get so longwinded they lose interest!
