Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus
I love chopping vegetables. It is probably one of my favorite things to do after a long day of work. It is mindless, productive and satisfying. However, there are some days when I just want to get it done so I can start cooking and — more importantly — eating. There are other days when I just don’t feel like pulling out and cleaning a cutting board and knife. These are the days when the Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus Processor comes in handy.
When I first used the processor to prep onions, I was surprised at how consistent they turned out. No remaining large pieces and no nearly liquefied pieces.
With two settings, chop and grind, the Mini-Prep processor has a variety of uses beyond chopping onions. It has an auto reversing blade that spins in one direction to use the sharp side of the blade when chopping soft food items; and the opposite direction to use the blunt side when grinding hard food items, such as peppercorns.
I used it to chop nuts for homemade granola, mix together ingredients for a fruit crisp, and mash bananas for banana bread. And the Mini-Prep can also be used to mince herbs, make salsa, and chop up cheese (hard or soft).
The lid even has a hole where you can drizzle in oil to make an emulsified dressing such as a vinaigrette. The manual includes a set of instructions on which operation and what type of technique to use when prepping a variety of food items. It also includes recipes for guacamole, Asian marinade, and mini cheesecakes, just to name a few.
The best part is that the work bowl, lid, blade and spatula can go on the top rack of the dishwasher for easy clean up! I can’t wait to continue to use the Cuisinart Mini-Prep Processor to help me out with a variety of food prep needs.
