Kathryn P. Fink: Aiding in an Emergency

Kathryn P. Fink, LD, MS, RD, CSSD

“I have fond memories of how my work team pulled together to help take care of all the evacuees,” says registered dietitian Kathryn Fink, who helped coordinate foodservice distribution and other emergency services when hospitals in Dallas, Texas, began taking in scores of people rescued from Louisiana hospitals after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. “I had many friends who started volunteering for the Red Cross.”

Today, Fink has a private consulting business in which she focuses on the emotional aspects of eating. She also works part-time at Timberlawn Mental Health System and teaches nutrition classes at Brookhaven College.

She strives to help others achieve an improved sense of health and well being by encouraging balance in nutrition, fitness and mental health. “My goal is to continue educating professionals and the community about how disordered eating has a multi-factorial impact,” says Fink.
