IMUSA Cloth Tortilla Warmer

On “Mexican night” — a once-a-week occurrence in my house — I usually either waste time preheating the oven to “bake” tortillas at a low temperature or use the microwave … and dry out our tortillas.

Enter IMUSA’s cloth tortilla warmer. If I bring an extra gadget into my kitchen, my criteria are that it can’t take up too much space and it has to live up to its promise. Looking like a large, round oven mitt with a pocket, this product is designed to warm tortillas in the microwave and keep them hot for up to an hour.

When we were ready to eat, I popped a few into the warmer, microwaved them on high for 45 seconds and assembled our tacos. The tortillas were hot to the touch and still soft. Although the product promises to keep tortillas warm for up to one hour, I noticed that after about 45 minutes they had dried out slightly in certain spots. But I really don’t think this is a problem. I only warmed as many as I knew we would eat in that sitting. If anyone wanted seconds,  we could heat up extra tortillas in no time!

If meals with tortillas are a staple in your household, I definitely recommend this product. It doesn’t take up much more space than a large oven mitt and warms tortillas in record time.

Even if you don’t have an oven (I’m talking to you, college kids), you can use this product. It is also perfect for busy families, single people cooking for one, and for anyone who doesn’t want to spend too much time in the kitchen while still preparing healthy meals.
