Once when I was in college, I borrowed my parents’ juicer. Back then, I found it hard to get enough produce because I going to school full-time while juggling jobs and school activities. Just your typical harried college student. I used that juicer for about two weeks and gave up on it. Cleanup took more time than I had anticipated, and the amount of juice I got for the amount of produce I juiced was just not worth it. I returned the juicer to my parents’ house and, since that day more than 10 years ago, have not juiced a thing.

Because of my history with juicing, I was a little nervous about the Novis Vita Juicer. But, on my very first night, I tried juicing some of the stray produce in my kitchen. After that first run, I quickly realized that this kitchen appliance was going to remain on my kitchen counter!

The Novis Vita Juicer looks sleek and sturdy, beautiful and minimalistic. And, because it’s quite heavy, you don’t have to worry about being delicate with it.

It’s incredibly easy to operate: it’s either “off” or “on”  and the different parts assemble easily. The first thing I noticed when I used the juicer was that it was so quiet I could use it early in the morning and not wake up my young child! But, the best part of this juicer is that you get so much yield from the fruit you use. Back in college, I would have to prep a huge bowl of produce to get just a few ounces of juice; totally not the case here! I juiced one grapefruit and a pair of oranges and got 1½ cups of juice. For juicing hard fruits and vegetables, it’s just as easy, as the centrifuge and blades efficiently extract all the juice possible. You can also blend produce to make smoothies – a great function that retains the fiber of what you’re running through the wide feed chute (which is also designed wonderfully, because you don’t have to cut fruit into super-small pieces).

Another function I love is the drophold (spout). When you’re done juicing, you flip the spout up, and this prevents juice from pooling onto your counter. Cleanup is quick and easy. Because the machine does such an efficient job at compacting the produce and extracting as much juice as possible, you can simply scrape the pulp into the trash bin (or, better yet, compost it) and stick the parts in the dishwasher.

The Novis Vita Juicer has become a necessity in my kitchen repertoire — it’s quiet, efficient, powerful, easy-to-clean, sleek and sturdy. I’m so glad to have rediscovered juicing after more than a decade away!
